Remicade (infliximab) is a monoclonal antibody used primarily in the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Remicade works by inhibiting tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), a substance in the body that causes inflammation. In rheumatoid arthritis, it is used in combination with methotrexate to improve symptoms and slow disease progression.
