Eczema
The exact cause of eczema is unknown, but if you or your family suffer from this condition it is important to take care of your skin. Taking regular baths in warm (and not hot) water and keeping your skin moisturised will help to keep it hydrated and alleviate your symptoms.
With anti-inflammatory properties and a unique formulation, Dermikelp® has been proven to reduce skin irritation and soothe itching without the side effects associated with cortisone creams. It? dermatologically tested, and can be used by the whole family.
Psoriasis
A result of skin cells that multiply up to 10 times faster than normal, psoriasis is one of the most persistent and unpredictable skin conditions. As underlying cells reach the skin? surface and die, the volume of cells produced causes raised, red plaques covered with white scales
Recent research shows that the key cause of psoriasis is due to some abnormality in the immune system, which can range from emotional stress and trauma to streptococcal infection. Although psoriasis may be embarrassing and uncomfortable, most episodes are relatively harmless and will subside within a few months after proper treatment.
Ideal for everyday use, dermatologically tested and clinically proven Dermikelp offers effective cortisone-free treatment for the symptoms of psoriasis.
Contact Dermatitis
There are three different types of contact dermatitis, irritant contact dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis and photocontact dermatitis. Irritant contact dermatitis is the most common of these and occurs when the skin comes into contact with a toxic material such as bleach or a detergent. Allergic contact dermatitis, on the other hand, develops from an allergic reaction to a foreign substance, which can be anything from jewellery to perfumes. The third type of contact dermatitis, photocontact dermatitis, is very uncommon and is a reaction to the active ingredients in sunscreen when exposed to sunlight.
Contact dermatitis will usually go away on its own, but if your rash is close to your eyes or mouth, covers a large area of your body, or doesn? improve with at-home treatment, then you need to seek the help of a medical doctor.
Most contact dermatitis reactions aren severe but can be very uncomfortable until the itching and redness subsides. Containing a proprietary extract of kelp (CEM-K), Dermikelp® has been clinically proven to rapidly relieve itchy and irritated skin.
Allergic Reactions
An allergic reaction is how the body responds to a foreign substance. These foreign substances are called antigens, and when the body senses them the immune system is triggered. The immune system function is to protect the body from harmful agents such as bacteria and toxins, but can sometimes overreact to a harmless substance. This response is called a hypersensitivity, or an allergic reaction. In most cases these are relatively harmless, and symptoms can be treated fairly easily.
CEM-K, the proprietary extract of kelp in Dermikelp®, has been proven to provide rapid relief from itchy, irritated skin.
Insect Bites & Stings
Insect bites and stings can often cause immediate skin reactions. Bites from fire ants and the sting from bees, wasps, and hornets are usually painful, while bites from mosquitoes, fleas, and mites are more likely to cause itching than pain.
Some people have severe, life-threatening reactions to bee stings or insect bites. This reaction is called anaphylactic shock and symptoms include chest pain, face or mouth swelling, difficulty swallowing or difficulty breathing. This condition can occur very quickly and if not treated quickly, can be extremely dangerous. So, if you or a family member experiences any of these symptoms it is very important to get to a hospital as quickly as possible. In most cases, however, symptoms can be relieved easily with topical treatment.
Offering rapid relief from irritable skin conditions resulting from minor insect bites or stings, Cortisone-free itch relief Dermikelp® is suitable for all ages and skin types.
Itchy, Irritated Scalp
There are many causes of itchy, irritated scalp, including medical conditions such as seborrhoeic dermatitis and psoriasis, or certain hair styles like tight braids.
Depending on what the underlying condition is, this may cause blistering burns, rashes or pain. An itchy, irritated scalp can even result in flaking, redness, scaling, discoloration and cracking of skin.Although hard to resist, scratching the scalp can lead to sores, lesions and even result in hair thinning or loss. Despite this, an itching of the scalp is not a life-threatening issue, and can be treated very easily, and in most cases it is not necessary to visit a dermatologist unless the severity of itching is in acute form.
Cortisone-free itch relief Dermikelp® Scalp Spray has a unique formulation that helps to soothe, nourish and condition dry, itchy scalp. Dermikelp® Scalp Spray also relieves symptoms associated with seborrhoeic dermatitis, psoriasis or any other itchy, irritated scalp condition.
Seborrhoeic Dermatitis
Seborrhoeic dermatitis commonly affects the oilier parts of the body, which is why it often affects areas such as the face, scalp and chest. The severity of seborrhoeic dermatitis symptoms can vary from person to person, and range from mild dandruff to extensive patches of inflamed, red and itchy skin.
In babies seborrhoeic dermatitis, or cradle cap, usually develops within the first three months after birth. It appears as greasy, yellow, scaly patches on the scalp, but doesn’t usually itch and is unlikely to bother your baby. Cradle cap can also affect other parts of your baby body, including the face, behind the ears and in skin folds such as in your baby nappy area.
Whether you or your baby suffers from seborrhoeic dermatitis (or cradle cap), Dermikelp® has been clinically proven to rapidly relieve itchy and irritated skin. It’s also dermatologically tested and is gentle enough to use for all skin types and ages.
