Triple Therapy for Helicobacter Pylori Eradication in Kenya

Once a lab test has been done and H Pylori is positively detected in a patient in Kenya suffering from peptic ulcers, what follows is the eradication of the bacteria as well as the healing of the ulcer wound. This can be done by using an H. Pylori Kit like Esclam Kit in Kenya.

The recommended module for eradication of is a one week triple therapy consisting of an Antibiotics such as Clarithromycin and Amoxicillin and a proton pump inhibitor such as Omeprazole. Variations of the triple therapy have been developed over the years, such as using a different proton pump inhibitor, as with Rabeprazole, Lansoprazole or Pantoprazole, or replacing amoxicillin with Tinidazole for individuals allergic to Penicillin. Such a therapy has transformed the treatment of peptic ulcers and has made a treatment to the infection possible.

• Esclam Kit has; 2 Esomeprazole 20mg tablets, 2 Amoxicillin 1GM and 2 Clarithromycin 500mg per kit.
• A day’s therapy contains two kits, one to be taken in the morning and the other to be taken at night.
• Each is indicated as MORNING or EVENING
• After the kit, a continuation dose of an acid suppressant is recommended for atleast 3 weeks.
