Moxifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibacterial given by mouth or by intravenous infusion over 60 minutes as the hydrochloride in the treatment of susceptible infections. The usual dose of AVELOX is 400 mg once daily. Moxifloxacin is reported to have greater activity against Gram-positive bacteria, including pneumococci, than ciprofloxacin.
