CLAVULIN 1g | CO-AMOXICLAV – 14 TABS
Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, or co-amoxiclav, is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used for the treatment of various bacterial infections in Kenya. It is a combination consisting of a ?-lactam antibiotic amoxicillin, and a ?-lactamase inhibitor potassium clavulanate that prevents bacteria from destroying Amoxicillin. The presence of food in the stomach does not appear to diminish the total amount absorbed, but can have a positive effect in reducing GIT irritation and diarrhea.
Most common diarrhea and rare hepatitis and cholestatic jaundice have been reported as potential side effects. Erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, and exfoliative dermatitis have also been attributed occasionally to the use of amoxicillin with clavulanic acid.
